Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
HockeyLens is committed to transparency. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used β in plain language, without jargon.
Short version: HockeyLens is a read-only NHL data platform. We collect minimal technical data, never sell it, and do not require any personal information to use the site.
Information We Collect
When you visit HockeyLens, our servers automatically log standard technical information including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used solely for analytics and service improvement.
HockeyLens is a read-only platform. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or personal identifiers unless you voluntarily contact us via the contact form.
NHL Data Sources
Game data β including schedules, scores, boxscores, player stats, and standings β is sourced from the NHL public API and updated automatically via scheduled cron jobs. We do not control or own this data beyond temporary caching for performance.
Game insights are generated by OpenAI GPT-4o-mini using anonymised boxscore data. No personal information is included in AI prompts.
Cookies & Tracking
We use minimal, essential cookies required for basic site functionality. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or behavioural profiling technologies.
We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools that do not track individual users across sites and do not use cookies. Aggregate, anonymised data helps us understand which games and teams attract the most interest.
How We Use Your Data
Technical log data is used to monitor uptime, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and ensure the platform delivers accurate NHL information reliably.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties. We do not share personal information with advertisers. HockeyLens is an ad-free platform built purely for hockey fans.
Your Rights
As we collect minimal personal data, there is very little to access or delete. If you believe we hold any personal information about you and wish to request its deletion, please contact us.
We respect data protection regulations including GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and similar frameworks. If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, we will honour those rights to the best of our ability.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of HockeyLens after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle data, please reach out via our Contact page. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
